S.T. Dupont's Vertigo II collection is an updated version of the first Vertigo Collection which was made back in 1996. The new collection features a geometric pattern done in Chinese lacquer. There will be 350 fountain pens, 350 rollerball pens and 300 Line 2 lighters created. Pen Lovers recently checked out the set and gave it rave reviews. . The new Vertigo II collection manifests S. T. Dupont's expertise in Chinese lacquer. Appointments are 18 kt gold

Chinese lacquer work is a long and exacting process, and the graduated geometric pattern on the Vertigo II makes the process that much trickier. Pens and lighters must be meticulously prepared to receive the Chinese lacquer, meaning that the metal substrate is hollowed and further prepared mechanically and chemically so the first layer of lacquer will adhere. After the first layer of lacquer is applied to the shell, the three colors that comprise the pattern are applied one by one and dried between each application. Finally a layer of clear Chinese lacquer goes on, which is then polished. The natural amber color of the lacquer adds a warmth to the finished piece
